Father’s Day Activities on the Water
Here are a few ways to help both the experienced and newer anglers in your life feel celebrated this year.
Rent a Boat. Spending the day on the water doesn’t necessarily mean you have to own a boat! Chartering one allows Dad to learn the ropes and even ask your guide some questions. If he’s more experienced, you can rent a boat, giving him a chance to see if he is ready to invest in his own!
Offer to Act as the Captain. If you are particularly confident in your abilities, volunteer to take charge of the boat for the day so your dad can kick up his feet and enjoy the views.
Go Fishing. There’s a reason why fishing is such a beloved and time-honored tradition—it’s both meditative and adventurous. You can use this fishing locator to see which species are near you or set out on a journey to reel in a dream catch.
Make it Multi-Generational. If grandparents are nearby and up for an adventure, invite them out for the day. This is an excellent opportunity to fish for some never-been-told stories or simply soak up the serenity together.
Take Care of Clean-Up. Sometimes, it’s nice to take a break from the grunt and grime of boat maintenance. At the end of your Father’s Day activities, you can offer to take charge of cleaning up the inside and outside of the boat so that Dad can relax.
BBQ Together. End your Father’s Day fishing trip by savoring your haul, literally. A cookout is a way to unwind and make the most of your catches! Stock up on plenty of your dad’s favorite side dishes (and his favorite drinks) to accompany your meal.
